The Bartz Studios Reproduction Line of Sculpture is the creation of Sharon Bartz and her late mentors, Arnold Peters
and Mary Lou Neville. Sharon was a 30-year-old microbiologist (M.S.) at Shands wehn she picked up a paint brush and
began an artistic journey that became her lifetime passion. As she had no formal training in art, she took several
community education courses but soon realized that she could learn more from established, working artists and thus
embarked on a series of private lessons, workshops and apprenticeships in both oil paintings and sculpture. She studied
with Mary Lou Neville, Arnold Peters, Maura Woodard, Buxton and Buxton, Robert Black, Rick Cain and stanley Bleifeld.
Sharon became a fulltime artist in 2000, when she hung up her lab coat at Shands for good. She is currently living her
dream of art, with an occasional break to travel with her husband, Jerry, a professor of Plant Pathologist at the
University of Florida.
